El Hamman, Arabic baths

Posted By CulturalMalaga January 25, 2009

The name Hammam comes from a Jewish word that means “heat”, but the temperature inside is not that high, only about 40 degrees, that allows a visitor to stay inside for hours, without feeling any discomfort or fatigue. The hammam is not just a bath, it´s more like a ritual. It is warm, humid, shadowed and is accompanied by relaxing music. The best is to take a washglove and a piece of soap and massage your body all the time you are inside, then from time to time take a shower and go up to the room of relaxation to have a tea or a coffee.

The price of a visit is 20 Euro per person (no time limits, tea, coffee, a pareo, a towel and slippers included).

Salt and oil body scrub: 15 Euro per 15 minutes.

Address: calle Tomás de Cózar, 13, El Hammam, opening hours – from 10:30 AM till 10 PM.
